Welcome to Gneiss!
Pronounced 'Nice' (The G is silent)
Gneiss was founded in 2013 as a passion project between two friends, and has grown to become a destination for all those who seek out unique beers in a unique place. Head Brewer and Co-Founder Dustin Johnson is inspired to create balanced beers that pay respect to the rich German tradition of brewing and layer them with the nuance and eccentricity of modern brewing. Co-Founder and Marketing/Tasting Room manager Tim Bissell has a penchant for puns and pints, and by putting their heads together, Gneiss was born. We look to our German heritage, our love of science and our Maine way of living to bring you truly 'rock-able' beers!
Gneiss is located in the foothills of the White Mountains, deep in the woods of rural Limerick, ME. We welcome you to visit us during our tasting room hours and experience the myriad flavors we create here and to enjoy the bucolic views of our woodland brewery.
You can find Gneiss beer in Maine and Massachusetts in select bars, restaurants and retail shops. Accounts listed on this map are currently or have recently carried Gneiss products. We reccommend calling ahead to see if/what Gneiss beer is currently available.

March 3rd - Bangor On Tap @ Cross Insurance Arena - Bangor
We are heading up north for our first time pouring at Bangor On Tap. The event will feature 2 sessions, an afternoon session (with a VIP bonus hour) and an evening session. Tickets available here.
March 8th - Thursday Throwdown 3 @ The Springvale Publick House - Springvale
The third iteration of our 'Thursday Throwdowns' at the Publick House is finally on the schedule. As usual, we have 2 one-off beers ready to release that night, a hoppy Kölsch called Sgt. SaazCoe made in collaboration with Tim Aballo of The Brew Shoppe in Shapleigh and a Mango IPA made in collaboration with Adam Laitres, co-owner of the Publick House. Try these two and a couple other Gneiss favorites! More info here as it develops.

*Well, yes with a few caveats. We ask that your dog is well behaved, is good with other dogs and humans, and remains on leash and with their human while they are here. Unfortunately, due to State regulations, we can no longer allow dogs to enter the brewery building, but we are more than happy to host you and your pup in our outdoor space (weather dependant, of course).
