Welcome to Gneiss!
Pronounced 'Nice' (The G is silent)
Gneiss was founded in 2013 as a passion project and has grown to become a destination for all those who seek out unique beers in a unique place. Head Brewer and Founder Dustin Johnson is inspired to create balanced beers that pay respect to the rich German tradition of brewing and layer them with the nuance and eccentricity of modern brewing. We look to our German heritage, our love of science and our Maine way of living to bring you truly 'rock-able' beers!
Gneiss is located in the foothills of the White Mountains, deep in the woods of rural Limerick, ME. We welcome you to visit us during our tasting room hours and experience the myriad flavors we create here and to enjoy the bucolic views of our woodland brewery.
Where to find our beer
Gneiss is available state-wide throughout Maine and Massachusetts through our distribution partners:
Can’t find us on tap or at a store near you, ASK FOR IT BY NAME! We do our best to get our product to as many beer shops/bars/restaurants as possible, but if there is a place you think Gneiss should be on tap or available in the cooler, let us know and we will do our very best to get it there for you!
Join us for a beer out in the woods!

*Well, yes with a few caveats. We ask that your dog is well behaved, is good with other dogs and humans, and remains on leash and with their human while they are here. Unfortunately, due to State regulations, we can no longer allow dogs to enter the brewery building, but we are more than happy to host you and your pup in our outdoor space (weather dependent, of course).
